I really need to keep this blogging thing up. How do other people cope with 2, 3, 4 children, still managing to create beautiful things, take beautiful pictures of them, list them on their etsy/ online shop, blog about them, put pictures on flickr too AND keep a stunningly clean and tidy house?! There are simply not enough hours in the day!
I have been doing a lot more crochet and knitting this past week. Having seen this blanket on loopknits I HAD to make one. I have been admiring Blue Sky Alpaca’s organic dyed cotton for some time now, but I thought I should really use up some of the wool I had already… there does seem to be quite a lot of it lurking at the side of my sofa/ taking up half of the bedroom. I therefore opted for some Debbie Bliss baby cashmerino. The final two colours are a dark red and a dark orange. Thing is, if I wanted to ever sell this blanket it would have to be quite pricey as the 6 balls of wool cost over £20. Good job I wasn’t planning on paying myself minimum wage! Do people pay for beautiful hand-knits? I overheard some [older] ladies in the knitting shop complaining that 25p was too much for a button and they were going to look somewhere else. What’s the point really? Am I wasting my time?
My crochet is mostly involving hats like these ones….
The cream one is made from Mirasol 100% baby llama with two Ls (not the Tibetan type). I can’t possibly tell you how soft this is. OK. I’ll try. It’s VERY soft indeed. Does anyone else pick up balls of wool in shops and put them to their cheek to see how soft they are? It actually felt as soft as a little baby wabbit or something like that.
I got quite a big order from TRICOT knitting shop this week – a heap more knitting rolls and some kind of long pencil case-type-things to put needles in. Here are some prototypes in shorter versions. The ones for the shop will be in more pastelly/ flowery fabrics to coordinate with the needle rolls (probably).
The owner is stocking up for Christmas and is very optimistic that she will sell said items to panic stricken clueless husbands! Fine by me! She also said I can put up a small display of my things (not knitting related) in the shop for a commission.
Maybe I’m not wasting my time.
